We are accepting submissions for Volume 54.
The Quarterly generally does not publish manuscripts from law students other than students at
UC College of the Law SF.
Articles should be submitted through Scholastica.
submission requirements
1. Articles must center on one or more legal issues arising from the United States Constitution.
2. Articles should be between 18,000 and 30,000 words, including footnotes. The Quarterly also accepts essays addressing contemporary constitutional issues, which must be at least 4,000 words, including footnotes.
3. Citations and formatting must conform to the 22nd edition of The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation. If significant Bluebook defects are identified (such as missing court information, absent pin citations, or incomplete source information), the Quarterly may require resubmission before formally accepting the manuscript for publication.
4. Articles must be submitted in Microsoft Word format, using Times New Roman font, and must not contain macros.
5. Authors must submit a current Curriculum Vitae along with their manuscript.
6. All email correspondence should include the author’s full name, title, institutional affiliation or organization, and contact information.
7. The Quarterly places a premium on publishing new and diverse voices in constitutional scholarship. Please read our Eight Issue Rule. The Quarterly welcomes submissions from all authors regardless of prior publication history. However, publication priority is given to authors who have not been published in the Quarterly within the preceding eight issues (two volumes).
8. The Quarterly maintains strict editorial timelines. Authors must be available to respond to editorial inquiries and meet production deadlines. Authors who anticipate extended periods of unavailability may wish to seek publication at a later date.
We look forward to working with you and publishing your high-quality scholarship!
